Garden Utopias
January-March 2024
In partnership with Qanat collective and Dar Bellarj foundation, Marrakech
Garden Utopias is a project developed through a series of workshops, gatherings, and conversations with a group of young people and from the Medina of Marrakech and the Gifted Mothers of Dar Bellarj.
Over the course of one week, we immersed ourselves in the sensory world of plants, reflecting on questions related to plant-light alchemy, image ecologies, and more-than-human perspectives. Collecting materials from local parks and gardens, we experimented with ways of working with our local ressources and integrating native plants into our creative process. The workshops featured hands-on experimentation with plant-based photographic techniques, as well as collective storytelling through sound and projection, building up to the creation of a shared body of work.

The prints and objects resulting from the programme were presented alongside a series of public interventions, curated screenings and talks as part of ‘Ch[a]rita’ festival organised by Qanat collective in February 2024 by QANAT Collective.
