ABOUT US
Kimiā is an initiative based in Casablanca, Morocco, dedicated to experimental practices in moving image, photography, and media art.
We act both as an art collective and as a teaching structure, sharing knowledge, ressources and tools to anyone interested in exploring alternative ways of image-making.
We aim to reclaim a space for experimental approaches to photographic and audiovisual creation whilst addressing barriers of access to the field. We support handmade, small scale and DIY forms of production as well as practices that creatively explore the intersection of old and new media.
Through our projects, workshops, and collaborations, we aim to cultivate environments that amplify underrepresented voices and support communities in developing their creative voices and unique approaches to experimental image-making.
Kimiā was founded in 2021 by Chahine Fellahi and Kaïs Aïouch. Since then, the collective has actively engaged in community-driven projects and developed participatory programmes in collaboration with local and international partners.
