Building Buildings workshops
Date
25-26.11.2023
Location
Chabab Al Borj Community Center, CasablancaArchive
Through methods of participatory urban design, these workshops invited children from the old Medina of Casablanca to reimagine and speculate on the future of living spaces in their city.
Using 3D line drawings of a neighboring construction site and screen-printed elements inspired by traditional architectural renderings, the children created collages envisioning what their ideal neighborhood would look like in the future.
Building on these ideas, the children collaboratively brought their visions to life by constructing a miniature city model. Using reclaimed construction site materials, toy animals, and plastic vegetation, they translated their designs into tangible forms, reflecting their vision for the neighborhoods of tomorrow.
This workshop took place as part of the ‘Homebound Residency Program 2023‘, a program supported by 421 Arts Campus, Abu Dhabi. It was organised in collaboration with the Chabab al Borj community organisation in Casablanca.
